What material is used for the windshield?

We utilize 5 mm (0.2 inch) polycarbonate for our windshields. Polycarbonate offers exceptional strength, being approximately 200 times stronger than glass, while weighing less than half as much. This material effectively safeguards the yacht's stability by maintaining strength despite its lighter weight.

What are the characteristics of polycarbonate?

Polycarbonate, celebrated for its remarkable lightness, embodies the essence of modern durability. To maintain its pristine clarity, a protective hard coating is expertly applied, ensuring that cleaning with soft cloths won't compromise its integrity. While effectively shielding against over 99% of UV sunlight, it's essential to note that extended exposure may gradually alter its transparency and color thus necessitating windshield replacement approximately every 4 years.

Is daily maintenance challenging?

Routine maintenance involves rinsing the windshield with fresh water to remove salt or dust. Use a soft cloth instead of a wire brush to avoid damaging or scratching the material. For stubborn stains, use a neutral detergent. Avoid applying glass coating products, as they may degrade the material's chemical resistance. When not in use, shield it from direct sunlight exposure.

How long does TOMA-TOP last?

Constructed from stainless steel marine-grade pipe (SUS316), TOMA-TOP maintains its shape almost indefinitely. The roof awning, crafted from durable architectural materials, boasts excellent antifouling properties and durability, ensuring long-term strength with regular usage. We recommend replacing the windshield every 4 years to preserve clear visibility.

What safety measures are in place for TOMA-TOP?

In the event of excess current or rapid temperature rise within the opening/closing unit, circuit protectors and thermal protectors activate to prevent accidents. Additionally, the fireproof and heat-insulating properties of the awning offer protection in emergency fire situations.
